About AmericanRightsGuide

Our Mission

We believe every American should be able to find accurate, plain-English answers to their legal and regulatory questions without paying $400 an hour for a consultation. AmericanRightsGuide exists to close that information gap — giving workers, business owners, and veterans the specific, state-level answers they need to understand their rights and obligations.

What We Cover

Employment Law: Workplace rights vary significantly from state to state. We cover wrongful termination, wage and hour rules, discrimination protections, leave entitlements, non-compete enforceability, and more — with guides specific to each US state.

Business Compliance: Starting a business requires navigating federal, state, and local licensing requirements that differ dramatically by business type and location. We cover licensing requirements, costs, timelines, renewal rules, and penalties for 400+ business types across all 50 states.

Veterans Benefits: Federal VA programmes provide a baseline, but every state adds its own layer of benefits — from property tax exemptions to education programmes to bonus pay. We cover both the federal entitlements and what each state adds on top.

Our Editorial Process

Every guide is sourced from primary sources: state statutes, government agency websites, the National Conference of State Legislatures, the Department of Labor, and official regulatory databases. We cite the relevant authority in every guide so you can verify the information directly. Where federal and state law differ, we explain both. Guides are reviewed regularly and carry a visible last-reviewed date so you always know how current the information is.

What We Are Not

AmericanRightsGuide is not a law firm. We do not provide legal advice. Reading our content does not create an attorney-client relationship. For specific legal questions about your own situation, always consult a licensed attorney in your state. Your state bar association's lawyer referral service is a good place to start.
